How We Verify

This page explains where the information on InspectionReady Home comes from and how we check it. It is our editorial policy. Home insurance rules affect real money, so we would rather leave a fact out than publish one we cannot back up.

The sources we use, in order

  1. Official forms and rules: the inspection forms themselves, such as the Florida uniform mitigation verification form, and the rules and bulletins of state insurance regulators like the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation and the Texas Department of Insurance.
  2. Official consumer guidance: guides published by state officials, such as the Florida Chief Financial Officer’s Insurance Consumer Advocate.
  3. Insurers of last resort: the published requirements of Citizens Property Insurance Corporation and of state FAIR plans.
  4. Manufacturers and recognized technical bodies, presented as what they are, never as regulators.

How we check a fact

  • Each figure, deadline or requirement is checked against its source at the time of writing, and the source is linked in the guide.
  • Every guide ends with a list of sources and the month its information was checked.
  • If we cannot confirm something with a source, we leave it out. Where rules differ between insurers, we say so instead of giving one number.
  • We do not invent experience. We have not inspected the homes we write about, and our guides are written as research, not as first-hand stories.

What we do not publish

  • Discount amounts. Each insurer sets its own credits, so we explain which features usually earn credit, not how much.
  • Recommendations of specific insurance companies.
  • Sponsored content or paid links.

Our tools

Every threshold or rule built into our tools is stored with its official source and the date we checked it. When a tool covers a state whose rules we have not verified, it says so and gives general guidance instead of guessing. The tools run entirely in your browser and do not send what you type to us.

Who writes and who reviews

Guides are written and edited by Daniel Aznar, who is not a home inspector or an insurance agent. We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Every fact is then checked against its source before publication, and the editor is responsible for everything we publish. Our guides are not reviewed by a licensed inspector, and we do not display reviewer credentials we do not have.

Updates and corrections

Inspection forms and insurance rules change. We review our key guides regularly and update the date when we do. When a reader or our own review finds an error that could have cost someone money, reversed a fact or was not backed by a source, we fix it and record it on our Corrections page. You can report a problem through the Contact Us page.
